This movement was a stark contrast to the ideas of mass production brought on by the Industrial Revolution and the over-decorated aesthetics of the Victorian Era. "The Craftsman Magazine," a publication focused on the simple, crafted artisanship influencing the era's furniture and goods, started applying them to home styles. Around 1901, the magazine featured a home that had been built by hand, embodying this same style, and was widely distributed, leading people to become heavily influenced by this style.
